BASF and BTC Europe will showcase their packaging portfolio at interpack 2026, taking place from May 7 to 13 in Düsseldorf. The focus is on material innovations and systems designed for recyclability, resource efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Polyamide solutions for demanding applications
In the field of high-performance plastics, BASF presents polyamide solutions based on Ultramid Ccycled for food packaging and other sensitive applications. The portfolio is complemented by Ultramid H, a thermoplastic polyamide with high water permeability, enabling new functional properties for specific packaging requirements.

These materials are designed to combine mechanical strength with functional barrier properties while supporting sustainability and traceability requirements.

Adhesive systems supporting recycling processes
Another focus area is adhesive technologies that facilitate existing recycling infrastructures. Water-based Epotal laminating adhesives enable the separation of material layers in PET-based multilayer packaging and support the production of low-contaminant recyclates.

In addition, label adhesives are presented that can be easily removed from PET and glass bottles, as well as from paper and cardboard packaging, improving sorting and recycling efficiency.

Resins and coatings for recyclable packaging
With Joncryl resins, BASF introduces water-based solutions for printing inks and barrier coatings that are fully dispersible and compatible with established recycling processes for paper-based packaging. The use of bio-based, mass-balanced, or chemically recycled raw materials contributes to reduced CO₂ emissions.

Biopolymers for compostable packaging
The biopolymer ecovio expands the portfolio with certified home-compostable materials for flexible and rigid packaging applications. These range from biaxially oriented films with high optical quality to high-barrier packaging for fast-moving consumer goods.

The materials are suitable for both organic recycling and paper recycling streams, offering alternative end-of-life options.

Supporting regulatory compliance and circularity
The presented solutions address requirements across the entire packaging value chain, particularly in the context of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). The aim is to enable packaging systems that support multiple recycling pathways, including mechanical and organic recycling.

Applications target industries such as food, pet food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and industrial goods, contributing to the development of circular packaging systems within a digital supply chain.
