NORD Digital Trade Fair 2021: Experience high-efficiency drive technology from NORD virtually
From 12 to 16 April, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS again strengthens its virtual presence with the NORD Digital Trade Fair 2021 as part of the Hanover Fair. On both platforms, the drive experts provide information on important industry news and introduce the new high-efficiency portfolio from NORD. Product highlights will include the patented DuoDrive – a groundbreaking innovation in the drive market.

Latest product news, discussions and contacts: All of this makes for a successful trade fair presentation and should be possible even in times of pandemic. This year, NORD is using its trade fair presence as part of the Hanover Fair Digital Edition. There, the company demonstrates its innovations in the field of drive technology via live stream and much more. Digital Trade Fair visitors can obtain detailed information on the latest NORD products, DuoDrive, IE5+ and NORDAC ON, and discuss the most important industry trends with the drive experts. A special highlight: The guided digital 360° tour of the NORD exhibition stand.
The highly efficient DuoDrive geared motor concept
The patented DuoDrive from NORD is a groundbreaking innovation: The innovative geared motor in its hygienic wash-down design integrates a high-efficiency IE5+ synchronous motor into the single-stage helical gear unit housing. It features high power density and consistent version reduction paired with a smooth, unventilated and compact design.
With up to 92%, the new geared motor currently offers the highest efficiency in this power class on the market, and achieves very high system efficiency in the partial load range. The first available DuoDrive size covers gear unit speed ratios of i = 3.24 to i = 16.2 and is designed for torque ranges of up to 80 Nm and speeds of up to 1,000 min-1.

IE5+ synchronous motor in new size
The IE5+ permanent magnet synchronous motors in the DuoDrive feature considerably lower losses than the IE4 series. Size 71 for the power range from 0.35 to 1.1 kW with a continuous torque of 1.6 to 4.8 Nm has already been present on the market since 2020. Now the size 90 expands the high-efficiency portfolio from NORD with a continuous torque of up to 18.2 Nm or a power range of up to 4.0 kW.
Smart frequency inverter for IoT applications
Another new product is the decentralised NORDAC ON frequency inverter. It is characterised by an integrated Ethernet interface, full pluggability as well as a very compact design while providing an economic plug-and-play solution for IoT environments. The frequency inverter can be mounted directly on the drive housing and covers lower power ranges of up to 1.0 kW. NORDAC ON was designed for use with asynchronous motors, whereas NORDAC ON+ is intended to be combined with synchronous motors, and supplements the NORD high-efficiency portfolio around the new IE5+ motor generation.
