Latest Videojet Productivity Innovations on Display at WestPack 2021

Videojet Technologies, a global leader in coding, marking and printing solutions, is showcasing its latest product innovations at the WestPack expo in Booth 5039 at the Anaheim Convention Center, August 10-12, 2021. Most notably on display is the new Videojet 1880 continuous inkjet (CIJ) printer. Built upon millions of hours of real-world printer data and over 40 years of experience in the CIJ coding market, the Videojet 1880 uses advanced, digitally enabled technology to help users operate lines without interruption.

Minimize operator interruptions while matching print quality needs
“By homing in on more predictive capabilities, the Videojet 1880 continuous inkjet printer can provide fantastic reliability and greater uptime through its suite of built-in diagnostics, remote service and recovery tools,” said Mark Breunig, CIJ product manager at Videojet.

Utilizing the advanced MAXIMiZE diagnostics platform that monitors printer performance and helps operators easily identify if a fault is likely to occur, the 1880’s early alerts are designed to allow maintenance and changeovers to be planned to suit production schedules and help prevent expensive downtime.

The 1880 printhead incorporates a unique sensor that enables the printer to detect build-up in the printhead and alert the user to potential print quality issues. Then with the push of a button, an operator can activate the new auto-rinse feature to remove ink build-up within 90 seconds.

Precise codes with a compact fiber laser marking head
Food, beverage, and other CPG manufacturers face the challenges of cleaning regimes and processes on their production lines. To help address these needs, the Videojet 7440 fiber laser features the IP69-rated Lightfoot marking head, engineered to operate under conditions where washdown is an essential part of the daily operational process.

The Lightfoot marking head, the smallest fiber laser marking head on the market, was developed for manufacturers who work within small spaces. Easy setup and positioning of the marking head are possible with an optional 3 or 10-meter umbilical. “The 7440 is an ideal solution for contract packagers and OEM manufacturers in the food, beverage and consumer packaged goods industries with space limitations, especially for those who are looking for simple integrations or who perform frequent, rapid changeovers,” said Anuj Chourey, laser product manager for Videojet. Taking advantage of the 7440 fiber laser, the Lightfoot canning solution is capable of ultra-fast speeds and is designed for harsh beverage environments while delivering high-quality, precise laser codes.

A snapshot of additional Videojet solutions featured in Booth 5039:

  • Videojet 3640 CO2 laser marking system delivers increased speed and efficiency thanks to the industry’s widest mark field.
  • Videojet DataFlex 6530 is a high-speed thermal transfer overprinter (TTO) designed to help reduce the time spent on quality checks, waste, and rework with the built-in iAssure code quality checker.
  • Videojet 9550 is a smarter print and apply labeling machine that offers precise control of label speed and position, while its Direct Apply label placement delivers line efficiency and reliability.
  • Videojet 2361 a high-resolution inkjet case coder, helps replace preprinted boxes and labels with a flexible and cost-effective print-on-demand solution.
