GEA has announced the launch of CowScout Cloud, an advanced data and analytics platform designed as an extension for its established CowScout monitoring system. The cloud-hosted software layer continuously aggregates and correlates individual animal telemetry—including activity levels, rumination rates, eating periods, and overall behavior profiles—without any operational time limitations. The system creates an open-ended digital data history for each animal spanning its entire biological lifecycle to support dairy farms in optimizing livestock herd management.

Continuous Telemetry Tracking and Operational Routines
While standard CowScout hardware installations have historically delivered individual physiological metrics, dairy farms frequently lacked a data consolidation layer to link and analyze sensor insights across multiple lactations or long-term lifecycles. CowScout Cloud addresses this infrastructure constraint by shifting individual animal dataset archiving away from local on-premise memory limits and onto secure, centralized cloud databases. Long-term baseline contextual tracking enables dairy operators to identify fine behavioral anomalies and health variations earlier than short-term telemetry windows permit.

This centralized data availability minimizes the human labor required for manual, visual animal observation, making the infrastructure highly scalable for expanding dairy farms and multi-site agricultural operations.

Portfolio Compatibility and Distribution Parameters
The platform does not substitute for existing control software but operates as a complementary analytics tier. The pre-existing GEA DairyNet platform remains the primary herd and farm management application for execution tracking and core operational workflows. CowScout Cloud streams sensor data directly into the cloud infrastructure, supporting programmatic integration paths into DairyNet as well as third-party localized management platforms depending on individual farm setups.

To support tracking flexibility, a newly engineered electronic Ear Tag component has been commercialized alongside the existing Neck Tag hardware sensor options. The complete software and hardware package is distributed globally via the authorized GEA dealer and service network, with system configuration, equipment installation, and ongoing maintenance handled by regional sales technical partners. System operational requirements include:
  • Active CowScout sensor transceivers mounted on the animal (Neck Tag or the new Ear Tag layout).
  • Compatible radio receiving antennas and data gateway technology deployed within the barn.
  • High-speed internet or localized software access keys to interface with the cloud network.
Pre-existing legacy CowScout installations can be progressively upgraded to the cloud-connected platform generation via a modular subscription and hardware pricing framework tailored to individual herd counts and functional software tiers.
