Next-Generation Tray Sealer Increases Automation and Efficiency

JBT Marel has launched the XT2 tray sealing machine under its Proseal brand, targeting food producers seeking higher automation, reduced changeover time and improved production consistency. The in-line system integrates automated tooling recognition, enhanced operator interfaces and energy optimization features while maintaining hygiene and product integrity across high-throughput packaging environments.

Automated Tool Detection and Reduced Changeover Risk
The XT2 incorporates Proseal’s IntelliTool technology, which automatically identifies installed tooling and applies the corresponding optimized machine settings without manual input. This reduces setup time during product or tray format changes and minimizes dependency on operator experience.

Automated tooling recognition lowers the risk of incorrect configuration during shift transitions and supports consistent sealing performance across multiple runs. Such automation is particularly relevant in facilities handling frequent SKU changes or short production batches.

Operator Interface and Production Stability
The machine features a 15-inch touchscreen interface with swipe-and-gesture controls. The updated interface is intended to shorten training time and streamline navigation between configuration, diagnostics and production screens.

The latest version of ProMotion+ tray positioning technology maintains stable tray alignment under variable feed conditions. By automatically correcting positioning deviations, the system supports uptime and reduces interruptions caused by misfeeds or alignment errors.

Energy Optimization Through Servo Drive Technology
Energy performance is addressed through an energy-sharing servo drive system. The design allows redistribution of unused energy within the machine, reducing total power consumption without affecting throughput. This internal energy balancing supports lower operational costs while aligning with sustainability targets.

Integrated Video Diagnostics and Digital Documentation
The XT2 integrates a WAPN system that captures event-triggered video footage during machine faults or irregular conditions. Operators can review recorded sequences to identify root causes more quickly and optimize line performance.

In addition, embedded video-based training materials and digital technical documentation support maintenance and operator training. These features reduce troubleshooting time and improve knowledge transfer within production teams.

Hygiene, Capacity and Upgrade Compatibility
The machine is constructed with frameless stainless steel, full-height access doors and open-frame conveyors to facilitate cleaning and inspection. A flat-belt outfeed is provided as standard for consistent tray handling.

Increased tray capacity is achieved without expanding the machine footprint, enabling higher productivity within existing floor space constraints. Compatibility with existing GT tooling allows current Proseal customers to upgrade without replacing tooling assets, supporting a simplified transition to the new platform.

By combining automated setup, enhanced diagnostics, energy management and hygienic design, the XT2 addresses operational efficiency and consistency requirements in modern food packaging lines.
